the magic of “outtakes”

For Mother’s Day I got to take some pictures of my own family… without any grumbling from my husband (it was actually his idea). Here are a few outtakes of the girls that I just love… on there own they are quite silly, but together they are simply magical! I see a storyboard getting print of a few of this really soon… oh just love these two little goof balls!

fun with food.

Lunch and dinner time with children (mine anyway) can be so frustrating. I present their meal and then they hum and hoe over it, complaining about what is in front of them. Every day, it is the same thing. So over the last few months I started making pictures or patterns with their food and you know what… they LOVE it!  Most of the time I just make a funny face, other times I am more creative. It is fun for me and they both look forward to seeing what their meal looks like.

Lunch and dinner has now become a joyful time for our house, there is no more complaining, just lots of smiles and empty plates!  And as many of you know, it is all about the small things in life.

our project ten: may :: iphoneography edition

If you have missed any of my past 10 on 10 posts, click here to find out what it is about and click here to see them all!

This month was done strictly with my iphone. I used a combination of three apps… camera+ (which I used to take every image, best camera app) and then I used either  vsco cam or  instagram to apply filters or “edit” my images.  This images are far from perfect but they capture our day perfectly!!

Tara - You do such beautiful work – how much I would love to do a mother/daughter shoot with Ruby and I. As always, if you’re ever in my neck of the woods, please advise. :)

documenting our life

Documenting is my passion, it is what I do, and I do it without really thinking about it. I feel compelled to capture the daily, ordinary moments of our life, most of which is done with my beloved iPhone. When I think back to certain parts of of my childhood I wish I had more images to look back on.  I don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow or a year from now, but I can preserve today’s moments forever. And I know that what I am doing every day, all this documenting, will one day be one of the biggest gifts I can give my girls.

Aisha - This is beautiful! I really need to start doing more of this and stop picking up my camera for work only. Thanks for the inspiration Robyn! :)

amie hansen - I love to document and feel the same way that my wish is that my boys look back and see all of the wonderful memories they can see through the images I document for them.
